DR. JONATHAN DYCE PROFILE

Dyce

Dr. Dyce has been with Ohio State for more than 16 years. His knowledge of veterinary orthopedics and his skills in the operating room draw referrals from veterinarians throughout the country.

He doesn’t just treat an animal’s lameness, but he passes on those skills to the students who come to the VMC from other vet colleges to do their clinic rotations. He also travels to other universities in the US and abroad to teach orthopedic procedures.

A typical week involves alternating days of receiving patients and doing surgery. During a typical receiving day, animals come in from referrals, for rechecks or as an emergency. Dogs make up the larger percentage of his patients and come in with ailments from knee ligament ruptures, hip dysplasia and fractures. An evaluation of treatment is made and if surgery is needed, they stay overnight for the operation.

When a not-so typical surgical day occurs with few operations on the schedule, Dr. Dyce takes the opportunity to conduct labs and teach students procedures outside of the classroom, which provides a relaxed hands-on experience without the concern of doing it on a live animal.

Dr. Dyce has earned respect from his clients, colleagues and students for his passion, gentleness and quiet demeanor.

we have no website, but we breed Welsh Springer Spaniels……….Dr. Dyce is our hero. He did a total hip replacement on our Jr.Hunter Titled Welsh Springer and just recently has taken the time to help us with our puppies sprained ankle! I can’t tell you how we appreciate that man and all he does. He team including Kim are just perfect! We would never consider bringing our dogs to anywhere but OSU!!
